Ventures Unlimited understands that safety is an investment, which protects not only our company and our people, but also our clients, their employees, visitors and communities. We are committed to maintaining our safety standards, which is why we strive to provide a safe working environment for all.
Industrial environments and high angle structures always present possible safety hazards. Because of this, we ensure that each work site is assembled and managed in a manner that is as safe as possible for the crew, customers, and even the public.
· To identify the hazards.
· To eliminate or reduce the risk of those hazards causing harm to as low as reasonable.
· To decide what passive and active work place precautions and management arrangements are necessary to ensure the safety of people in your premises or on location.
The overall objective of the risk assessment is to ensure the safety of the occupants of the building or location.
Construction
If a worker is exposed to a fall risk, fall arrest systems are necessary. A fall hazard is defined by OSHA/Suva as a fall from one level to another, from a working/walking surface. Ladders, scaffolding, and steel work are examples of exceptions (but not limited to)
Fall Protection in the Film Industry
It is essential, whenever a member of the cast, crew or production team is to be working at height, to carry out a thorough appraisal of the risk involved and to implement fall protection measures.
When acting at a height, constructing or dismantling sets, stages and light and sound systems the types of fall protection that should be considered.
Guard Rails - The use of secure guard rails can prevent a film worker from falling from the edge of an elevated structure or surface. The guard rails should be of a sufficient height to ensure that the worker cannot fall over them.
Securing of Ladders and Scaffolding – These types of precaution are a particularly requirement for set workers and lighting and sound engineers.
Anchorage
Anchoring the crew/worker securely, by a wire rope or synthetic sling, will also provide fall protection by preventing a fall completely or limiting the distance of the fall.
Body Harness
A body harness can prevent a vertical fall by a crew/worker and can also reduce the physical harm sustained if the worker does fall and has to be suspended by the harness.
Safety Nets
Safety nets, whilst not preventing falls, can protect a film worker from the injuries that would otherwise be caused by falling from a height onto a hard surface.
Rope Access
When it comes to working at height, rope access is recognized as the safest method for project completion due to the high standard of training, regularly inspected equipment, and the reduced number of personnel needed to complete a task. Our technicians are Irata certified.
Project leaders make sure to assess each job site thoroughly so they can brief the crew on any potential hazards that may be present during the day’s work. This allows our crew to identify potential accidents to ensure an injury-free work day, whether it’s for a regular industrial inspection or an emergency repair project.
Performance
Ventures Unlimited realizes the importance of having each rope technician strictly follow both the Occupational Safety and Health administration (Irata, WHS or Suva) procedures. Our rope access technicians are continuously monitored & evaluated on their performance of adhering to these safety standards.
Client Safety Expectations
We know that our clients demand quick turnaround, little downtime, and safe execution of TV Film set, event, maintenance and repair work. Each rope access technician is put through meticulous training to guarantee that they can safely & efficiently complete any high angle task that may be required.
